New Teacher Sophie

Hello! My name is Sophie and I am a new teacher at Global Village. I am English and I was born near Birmingham in the centre of England but I have been living in London for the last ten years.
I studied French and English at university in Nottingham and have taught English in schools in France. I am passionate about languages. My next goal is to learn Japanese! I enjoy teaching English at Global Village because I get to work with both adults and children at all stages of proficiency.
I am very happy to be in Japan as I like many aspects of Japanese culture, especially Japanese art and ikebana. I trained as a florist in England and have made wedding flowers for some of my friends. I also love Japanese food, even natto!
In my spare time I enjoy running, reading, yoga, hiking and world cinema. Living in Nagano prefecture is great for me as I can go out running and hiking. I am planning to enter the Suwakko half marathon in November and would like to have a go at skiing next winter.
